Hamlet ist ein Literaturverfilmung von Kenneth Branagh aus dem Jahr 1996 und basiert auf dem Theaterstück Hamlet von William Shakespeare. Es handelt sich um eine sehr aufwendige Produktion. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Literaturverfilmungen wurden hier die Originaldialoge von Shakespeare ungekürzt übernommen. Prinz Hamlet erscheint der Geist seines ermordeten Vaters, der ihn auffordert, Rache an Claudius, seinem Onkel, zu nehmen. Dabei kommt es zu einem furchtbaren Versehen, Hamlet ersticht Polonius, den Vater seiner geliebten Ophelia.
