Allan Karlsson (Robert Gustafsson) hat Geburtstag. Er wird 100 Jahre alt. Doch anstatt sich auf die geplante Geburtstagsfeier zu freuen, verschwindet er lieber kurzerhand aus dem Altersheim und macht sich in seinen Pantoffeln auf den Weg zum örtlichen Busbahnhof.Raus aus der Langeweile und rein in ein neues Abenteuer, dass ist Allans Ziel. Während seiner Reise kommt er erst zu einem riesigen Vermögen, findet neue Freunde und trifft auf Gauner, Ganoven und Kriminelle, bevor er sich mit Elefantendame Sonja auf den Weg nach Indonesien macht. All das ist für Allan aber schon lange nichts Besonderes mehr, hat er doch die letzten 100 Jahre maßgeblich dazu beigetragen das politische Geschehen in der Welt unbewusst auf den Kopf zu stellen...
